In the late 1850s, Andrew Jackson Myers lived in San Joaquin, California. A native of Illinois, he returned in the late 1880s and lived on San Luis Rey. In 1882, Myers moved to the land where Oceanside stands today. The land deed was signed in 1883 by the federal government. The founding date is considered to be July 3, 1888. City oceanside california Hall has stood on the former Myers estate since the beginning of the 21st century. In the 20th century, a city beach appeared in Oceanside. Residential areas were built, downtown (1890s), South Oceanside (1920s and 1930s). These houses are of historical value. Since the establishment of Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in 1942, Oceanside has been home to World War II military personnel and war industries and was home to munitions manufacturing facilities in the 1950s. After 1970, most of the development attention in Oceanside turned to suburban development.
